FAQ
- Q: Can I get parts for my obsolete crib?
Child Craft has long prided itself in providing safe and durable products for our customers. With reasonable care, our furniture will last for many years. Disassembling and reassembling one of our cribs for multiple uses is certainly a common and expected practice. As I am sure you can appreciate, both aesthetic and functional designs of these products change over time. While we have always done our best to maintain a reasonable inventory of hardware components when items become obsolete to accommodate the needs of customers who have lost parts during storage, there is an obvious limit to that availability and that inventory.
In addition to the normal obsolescence and inventory issues, we had a very major flood in 2004 that washed away almost all stock of older hardware that we had on hand. In addition to losing nearly our entire inventory, we also lost our manufacturing facility and, as a result, have relocated to a community about 20 miles to the south of the location we had held for 93 years. While we were able to save some of the obsolete hardware inventory from the flood, the vast majority was washed away or destroyed. Now, 3 ½ years since the flood, the remaining stocks are also gone or extremely low.
If we cannot provide what you need in the way of obsolete components, please understand that it is not from lack of caring or effort. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU MUST NOT ATTEMPT TO ASSEMBLE YOUR OLD CRIB WITHOUT THE PROPER HARDWARE. SERIOUS INJURY OR A FATALITY ARE VERY POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES OF USING INAPROPRIATE HARDWARE OR JURY-RIGGING THE CRIB TO HOLD IT TOGETHER. OUR HARDWARE SYSTEMS HAVE GONE THROUGH MANY HOURS OF RIGID TESTING AND ANYTHING BUT THE CORRECT HARDWARE MUST BE CONSIDERED UNSAFE. If we are unable to help you restore you crib to its original structural condition, please destroy the crib and purchase another. While we would certainly appreciate you purchasing one of our products, the purchase of any JPMA Certified crib on the market today would provide a much safer environment for your infant than an older crib that is structurally compromised. We do appreciate your patronage and understanding.
